We’d be happy to share with you! Our crown molding is made from high density styrofoam. (No, it’s not the same kind of styrofoam you get for your party cups!) Without getting too technical, it’s expanded polystyrene foam.  Polystyrene covers a wide variety of materials and an even wider variety of uses from insulation to surf boards. It’s really great stuff!

If you’re anything like us, you spend a lot of time researching DIY projects online…and then regretting your decision after 20+ trips to the store and failed attempts to get that Pinterest-worthy look.

Due to the styrofoam’s light weight, one person could easily install the molding. No need for nails, compressors, fancy mitre saws, locating studs, or complicated math. Once you get familiar with the process, your installation will move along.

Cut our Styrofoam crown molding with a mitre saw (if you have one), hand saw, or even a sharp kitchen knife. Styrofoam molding attaches with painters caulk. The caulk bonds to the ceiling and wall and cleans up with plain old water. Use a caulking tool and you don’t even have to get your hands messy. Use joint spackle for the butt joint. Apply, let it dry and sand smooth (more details on our how-to page!).

If you don’t want to mess with cutting the corners and angles of your walls yourself, look into our corner blocks and styrofoam corners. These items make those awkward corners a piece of cake.
